Region 15 Cross Country championships

We started off our morning (November 21st) at Mt. Sac. for Cross Country Region 15 championships. (Our region encompasses all of California, Nevada and Hawaii). This race is what would qualify my girl, Sabrina, for National Junior Olympics. If she was in the top 20 of this group she would be elgible to be Nationally ranked for her second time!

We stayed warm and dry (since it was about 55 degrees and sprinkling a bit) by sitting in the car and waiting for the race to begin. This was "Team Sabrina" this year: her sisters and her cousin, Hudson, and her parents.

And finally this talented group of girls took off on a race that would be a muddy and wet one!
(Sabrina is in all black right by that bright yellow cone.)

This is at about mile 1. Lookin' strong!

And this is a very strong finish with another awesome time of 12 min 34 sec.....
and the number 10 spot!!!
Yep, she did it! She qualified for National Junior Olympics once again. Unfortunately we do not have the finances to send her to Alabama on December 11th to see how she would do at the National level this year...but we are just so proud that she made it this far and hope for her success again next year. In the meantime, don't be surprised if you see her still out training since her next goal is run a HALF MARATHON! Yes, folks...this little, tiny 10 year old girl has goals!!!
Way to go, Sabrina!!
